The Lamar Tigers bring back experience in several of the most important areas of the field, giving head coach Jared Beshore a strong base for the upcoming season. Returners are in place on the perimeter, along the offensive line and at every level of the defense. Lamar will also have openings to address, particularly within the linebacker corps, but those vacancies create valuable opportunities for younger and less experienced players to earn quality varsity experience and help shape the Tigers’ identity.
The offensive line remains the program’s primary determinant of offensive success, and Lamar returns a proven group there. Senior Logan Martin is a first-team All-State selection, while senior Brady Gire earned second-team All-Conference and All-Area recognition as a tight end/offensive lineman. Senior Rustin Forst returns after collecting second-team All-Area honors. Their experience should give the Tigers a steady presence up front.
Senior running back Terren Williams is a first-team All-State performer and one of the offense’s premier returners. Junior Jaydin Moore adds an honorable-mention All-Conference and All-Area résumé at running back, while junior quarterback Clayton Powell returns with honorable-mention All-Area recognition. Together, that collection of returning skill players and linemen gives Lamar established options across the offense.
The Tigers also return decorated contributors on defense. Senior Luis Salas is a first-team All-State defensive tackle. Williams will contribute at defensive end after receiving second-team All-Conference and All-Area recognition there, and senior Toby Ansley is back at defensive back after earning second-team All-Conference and All-Area honors. Junior Waylon Nolting, a second-team All-Conference defensive back, and junior linebacker Bryer Eidson, an honorable-mention All-Area selection, add more experience. Sophomore defensive back Brady Reaves represents a younger player ready to compete for a role.
Lamar’s success will depend on experienced players helping new contributors reach a varsity level quickly. That responsibility is especially important while roles are being filled at every defensive level. With a senior-led offensive front, recognized playmakers and returners throughout the defense, the Tigers have the personnel to establish a dependable standard early and allow their emerging players to grow within it. The focus will remain on daily improvement, positive leadership and doing the small things that help the entire team move forward together.
