The Greenfield Lady Wildcats enter the volleyball season prepared for change and focused on making the most of their returning experience. Head coach Melissa Hull’s roster must replace seniors who filled critical positions, so some players will take on different assignments and learn new roles. That transition will be a major part of the season, but it also gives Greenfield a chance to develop a more adaptable group. With returning letter winners in the program, the Lady Wildcats have a base of players who understand the work required and can help lead the adjustment.
Every season brings a need for players to grow, and Greenfield’s growth will be especially important as positions are reshaped. The Lady Wildcats will look for their returning athletes to embrace the chance to expand their games, communicate through the learning process and keep the team moving forward.
Junior setter Drew Miller will be at the heart of that effort. Miller has been Greenfield’s setter for both years she has played volleyball, directing the Lady Wildcats’ 5-1 system as the only setter. Entering her junior year, she has already recorded 1,396 assists in two seasons running that system. Her experience creates valuable continuity for a team adjusting in other areas, since a setter must help connect every phase of the offense.
Miller’s approach also reflects the standard Greenfield wants to carry into the season. She is a hard worker, coachable player who does what her coaches ask without question. As a multisport athlete with a high GPA, she brings commitment on and off the court. Her willingness to be coached and her familiarity with the team’s system can help make the transition smoother for teammates learning new responsibilities.
The Lady Wildcats know that replacing important seniors will require patience, effort and flexibility. They also know they have returning letter winners and an accomplished setter ready to organize the offense. As players settle into fresh roles, Greenfield will have an opportunity to build a team that grows more comfortable and connected with every match. Hull’s group is positioned to make the season a productive one by meeting change with energy, preparation and a collective willingness to improve.
