Hailey Jia Ralston has built her high school career at Carthage High School around service, leadership and a willingness to embrace every opportunity in front of her. As a senior, Ralston has become a prominent leader in FFA while also competing for the Tigers’ golf program, applying the same dedication and steady work ethic to both activities.
Ralston credits her parents as her biggest role models. Their constant support has taught her the importance of responsibility, perseverance and commitment, especially when challenges arise. They have encouraged her to work hard, avoid giving up and pursue her goals with confidence. That foundation continues to guide the way she approaches leadership, competition and everyday responsibilities.
In FFA, Ralston serves as the Area 9 Treasurer and as secretary of the Carthage chapter. Being elected Area 9 Treasurer stands among the biggest achievements of her high school career. The position has allowed her to represent her chapter, school and community while serving fellow members across the area. It has also helped her become a more confident speaker, leader and representative of the organization.
Ralston’s path into FFA began in agriculture classes, where she learned about the organization’s opportunities for leadership, personal growth and community involvement. Her agriculture teacher, Mrs. Noblitt, played a defining role in that decision. Noblitt encouraged Ralston to become involved and to take full advantage of the possibilities FFA provides. Through that encouragement, Ralston stepped outside her comfort zone, accepted leadership positions and developed into a more confident person.
One of Ralston’s favorite FFA memories came during her sophomore year, when she attended the State Convention for the first time with her parliamentary procedure team. The experience gave her a broader view of the organization and the thousands of students statewide who share a passion for agriculture, service and leadership. After working hard alongside her Parli teammates to reach the event, Ralston felt proud to be part of something much larger than herself.
Whether she is serving in FFA or playing golf, Ralston understands that success requires dedication, consistency and patience. Countless hours of practice, mental focus and a willingness to learn from mistakes have shaped her into a disciplined and resilient student-athlete.
Ralston strives to give her best effort, demonstrate sportsmanship and set an example for younger students. She is motivated by the goal of leaving high school without regrets, knowing she took advantage of every chance to learn, grow and serve others.
