Lockwood’s Asa Lasater – Southwest Missouri Fan’s Choice Miss Basketball – Presented by Shelter Insurance

Sophomore Asa Lasater is building a name for herself as a multi-sport athlete at Lockwood High School, competing year-round in basketball, softball, and volleyball. Whether she’s running the offense as a point guard, anchoring the infield at shortstop, or attacking from the outside in volleyball, Lasater’s versatility and competitive drive stand out.

Basketball remains her primary focus, and her sophomore season delivered several memorable moments. From reaching the 1,000-point milestone to battling through a highly competitive district championship game, Lasater embraced every challenge. More than the accolades, though, it was the experience of competing alongside her teammates that made the season special.

“Most of all just getting to play the game I love with my best friends. Every practice and game is fun when you get to play with your best friends.”

Lasater’s motivation is rooted in long-term goals. She aspires to play college basketball at the highest level possible, and that vision fuels her daily work ethic. Her approach combines skill development with a strong mental game, something she has built over years of guidance from those closest to her.

“I am motivated by my goals and dreams to play college basketball at the highest level I can, and reach my full potential.”

Her parents have played a central role in that journey, providing constant support while helping shape her discipline and mindset.

“They rebound for me, take me to the gym, take me to practices and tournaments, and provide me with trainings all to help me reach my goals.”

Lasater also takes pride in representing her school each time she steps on the court, understanding that her effort reflects more than just her individual performance.

“I want people to remember our team for how hard we work, how we play together, how we never give up, and our sportsmanship.”

When adversity hits, Lasater leans on her faith and a relentless mindset to keep moving forward.

“I refuse to quit. When things get tough, I look at it as a challenge and keep going.”

With a strong support system, clear goals, and a competitive edge, Lasater continues to develop into a leader and impact player across every sport she plays.
