Neosho Track – Team Spotlight – Presented by Kerri Williams Shelter Insurance

Phoenix Rhatigan

The Neosho Wildcats track team enters the 2026 season with a sense of momentum and belief, fueled by a mix of returning experience and emerging young talent. Under the guidance of Head Coach Randy Mustain, the Wildcats are building around a core group that has already proven it can compete at a high level. With every member of last year’s state-qualifying 4×400-meter relay team returning, expectations are rising as the team looks to take the next step.

“We are really excited about the upcoming 2026 season. We have a young but very talented group of young men who have been working very hard in the off-season to become the best version of themselves.”

Leading the charge is junior Phoenix Rhatigan, a multiple-time state qualifier who brings both performance and leadership to the squad. Known for his focus and discipline, Phoenix sets the tone in practice and competition alike. His continued growth in the sprints will be key, especially as he helps guide the Wildcats’ sprint relays toward all-state aspirations.

Alongside him, Keegan Coness returns as a reliable sprinter, adding depth and consistency to the Wildcats’ speed events. Together, they form a strong foundation for a relay group that already has experience on the state stage.

In the field events, senior Everson Tomlinson looks to build on his 2025 sectional qualification in shot put. His experience and strength give Neosho a steady presence in the throws. Junior Collin Wilkie, a 2025 AAU national qualifier in discus, adds another high-level competitor who can make an impact beyond the local scene.

The Wildcats are also keeping a close eye on Dylan Bussey, an underclassman with the potential to break out this season. His development reflects the team’s broader identity, young, driven, and improving.

With a roster leaning heavily on sophomores and juniors, the future is bright, but the focus remains firmly on the present. The Wildcats aren’t just rebuilding, they’re reloading, determined to turn potential into podium finishes this spring.
