Carthage Lady Tigers – Volleyball Spotlight – Presented by Matt Sappington Shelter Insurance

The Carthage Lady Tigers bring an eager, talented group into the volleyball season, led by six seniors with high expectations and big goals. Head coach Chloe Allmoslecher sees a roster with ability across the board and the chemistry to make the season especially enjoyable. The group’s work ethic has already stood out, and its combination of experienced leadership, versatility and competitive drive gives Carthage a promising platform.

Senior outside hitter Elsie Willis is a central part of the Lady Tigers’ attack. Though she stands 5-foot-6, Willis can jump out of the gym and delivers an impressive attack. She is level-headed under pressure, consistent in both the front and back rows, and a strong leader. Carthage relies on her in significant moments, and she handles that responsibility with grace and grit.

London Shepherd supplies versatility and a powerful front-row presence. She spent her first two varsity seasons as a middle hitter and is set to receive most of her swings at outside hitter during her final two years, while still being able to play middle or right side. Her strong arm and big block make her a dependable option in pressure situations.

The Lady Tigers also feature underclass talent and all-around contributors. Zoe Williams is a versatile, hard-working player who can step into whatever role is needed with a positive attitude. Fundamentally sound and mentally tough, she does not let her age prevent her from leading. Allie Brown brings hustle, athleticism and a deep desire to compete. Capable of playing wherever needed, Brown gives everything to the team.

Avery Sherwood is a well-rounded student-athlete, vocal leader and intense competitor who holds herself to a high standard on and off the court. Ryleigh Horton adds calm, discipline and consistency. Whether Carthage is ahead or behind, Horton remains steady and gives her full effort in the classroom and on the court. With those qualities spread across the roster, the Lady Tigers have a group prepared to support one another, handle pressure and pursue the high standards they have set for themselves. The focus will remain on daily improvement, positive leadership and doing the small things that help the entire team move forward together.
