Seneca High School sophomore first baseman Abby Stelts began playing blastball at the age of four. At seven years old, she started playing travelling softball. Since that time, she has never looked back.
In her freshman season with the Seneca Indians, Abby was named Rookie of the Year. She has also been named to the Big 8 All-Conference 2nd team by the Missouri Coaches Association and was additionally named First Team Big 8 All-Conference by another publication.
In 2023 – 2024 the Missouri High School Fastpitch Coaches Association named Abby to their 2nd Team All-Region Team as an Infielder, and to the First Team All-District Team.
Even as a sophomore, Abby has had a very distinguished career for the Indians already, so when asked about her goals, she spoke of her team, “One goal I have for my team is to go all the way to districts and win the Big Eight Conference.”
This past summer, Abby’s travel team, the Bullpen Psychos, played in over 50 games, winning 41 of them. Abby had to miss several of those games with a broken finger and then later, with stitches in the same hand. But when she was playing, Stelts was extremely productive, with a batting average well over .500 and an on-base percentage that flirted with .600. That productivity helped the Psychos to win tournaments all summer long, and saw them become the USSSA Missouri State Tournament Champions, and the USSSA National Champions.
Abby’s busy softball schedule leaves her little time for social clubs and activities. She is strong in the classroom, boasting a strong G.P.A. of 3.9.
Eventually, Stelts would like to go to college. As a sophomore, she is still in the early stages of debating her options and her choice of career paths.
