
Phoenix Rhatigan served as a cornerstone of the Neosho Wildcat track program this season, delivering both elite individual performances and invaluable leadership that elevated his teammates. The junior sprinter continued his trajectory as a multiple-time state qualifier while helping guide the Wildcats’ relay units to historic accomplishments throughout the spring.
Rhatigan’s individual prowess in the sprints remained constant throughout the season as he qualified for the MSHSAA Class 5 State Championships in the 400 meters with a season-best time of 50.18 seconds. His consistency and focus in the quarter-mile showcased the discipline and talent that head coaches have come to rely upon from the junior leader. The state qualification marked another chapter in Rhatigan’s growing legacy as one of the premier sprinters in southwest Missouri.
The pinnacle of Rhatigan’s season came as a member of Neosho’s 4×400-meter relay team, which rewrote the school record books. Running alongside Isaiah Keezer, Will Ebbinghaus, and Izaiah Hill, Rhatigan helped the Wildcats clock a blistering 3:21.87 to shatter the previous school record and secure a state championship berth. The relay team’s chemistry and execution demonstrated the leadership and focus Rhatigan brought to every practice and competition.
Beyond his athletic achievements, Rhatigan’s impact on the Neosho program extended to mentoring younger sprinters and setting the standard for dedication. His ability to balance personal excellence with team-first leadership made him an invaluable asset to the Wildcats’ success this season. As a junior, Rhatigan has positioned himself for an even more dominant senior campaign while establishing a foundation of championship-level performances.
