Allie Brown is already making her mark at Carthage High School as a multi-sport standout whose impact reaches far beyond the court. A 10th grader who competes in both basketball and volleyball, Brown has earned the respect of her teammates and coaches with a mindset built on discipline, leadership and resilience.
Brown’s teammates voted her defensive player of the year, an honor she views as a reflection of her effort and intensity every day in practice and games. She said that focus on defense has shaped who she is as both an athlete and a person. “Always be the hardest worker in the room,” Brown said, sharing her favorite piece of advice and a standard she tries to bring to every drill, huddle and possession.
Her growth has been guided by people who invested in her early. Brown points to Mrs. Patterson, her seventh-grade teacher and assistant basketball coach, as a key influence. “She gave me advice that helped me be a better person, athlete and friend,” Brown said. That guidance helped Brown understand that leadership means serving others and setting a tone with her attitude as much as her play.
Brown’s teammates have been just as important in her journey. She describes close friend and fellow athlete Zoe Williams as her “ride or die” who pushes her to elevate her game in every sport they share. The bond they have built in workouts, tournaments and late-night conversations has helped Brown handle the pressures that come with varsity competition.
On campus, Brown stays active as a member of student council and a leader in FCA, embracing opportunities to serve her school and community. She says her favorite place in Carthage is the high school itself because of the friends, opportunities, teachers and coaches who fill it. Above all, Brown is grateful for the support of her parents, grandparents, family, teammates and all of her coaches, who she credits for helping her become the person and player she is today.
