Joplin High School senior basketball player and student-athlete Trenton Gage spoke to VYPE SPORTS in a recent interview.
VYPE SPORTS: What are your personal goals for the year?
Gage: I want to get stronger in the sport of basketball, but I also want to grow stronger as an individual.
VYPE SPORTS: What is your favorite memory about your association with this team?
Gage: I love that we are all comfortable around each other. We have a great bond, which really helps on the court.
VYPE SPORTS: What teammate has left the biggest impression on you and why?
Gage: Gray Cravens played when I was a freshman, and any time he came off the bench he was ready to go. That determination and his attitude really inspired me
VYPE SPORTS: What is your favorite part of being a part of this team?
Gage: I love that my teammates trust me and have a lot of faith in me.
VYPE SPORTS: What accolades (in any sport or non-athletic activity) are you most proud of?
Gage: I was named All-Conference last year, averaging 15 points a game while coming off the bench. Later, I became a starter
VYPE SPORTS: What has this sport taught you that you use in your daily life?
Gage: Basketball has taught me that you have to work hard at everything you do.
VYPE SPORTS: What is the best advice that anyone has given you?
Gage: Probably the best advice to me was simply, “You should play with more confidence.”
VYPE SPORTS: Who inspires you and why?
Gage: My sister inspired me. I grew up watching her play basketball, and it made me want to play, too.
VYPE SPORTS: Here is your chance to give a shout out or say thank you to anyone you wish.
Gage: I want to give a shout out to my family and coaches because they are the main reasons I’ve kept going with basketball.
