Carthage High School’s Halle Endicott – Athlete Spotlight – Presented by Matt Sappington Shelter Insurance

Sophomore guard Halle Endicott has quickly become one of the steady, emerging voices for Carthage High School’s girls basketball program, earning a varsity spot as a freshman and even starting alongside seniors in her debut season. That early vote of confidence is one of the accomplishments she is most proud of, and it continues to shape how she approaches the game and her teammates.

Endicott said basketball has taught her some of the most important lessons she carries with her away from the court. She has learned she cannot control every bounce or whistle, but she can control her work ethic, attitude and how she responds to adversity, growth that she believes has helped her mature both as a player and as a person.

Her development has been guided by examples close to home. As a freshman, she looked up to teammate Lauren Choate, calling her a huge role model and saying she hopes to one day be as strong of a team leader as Choate was for her.

The classroom has been just as influential. Endicott points to her second grade teacher, Mrs. Starchman, as a favorite, remembering the way Starchman always had a positive outlook and made people feel seen, an attitude Endicott now tries to emulate.

Community and faith also play a central role in Endicott’s life. She is active in Fairview Christian Church, her youth group and the CHS Student Council, and she leans on advice from her AAU coach, Teejay Britton, who reminds her that “one day that ball will stop bouncing,” a phrase that pushed her to keep her identity rooted in Jesus and remember that basketball is temporary.

Away from the gym, Endicott cherishes Carthage traditions, especially the Maple Leaf Festival, which she describes as being almost like a holiday that everyone looks forward to and that makes the town feel special. She is also quick to thank her mom for constant support, from sacrifices during every season to encouragement when things get tough, saying that support has helped her keep going through every challenge.
