Carthage High School’s Brody Jackson – Athlete Spotlight – Presented by Stephen McKay Shelter Insurance

Carthage senior hurdler Brody Jackson has built his track career on persistence, faith and the quiet belief that getting back up matters more than falling. As a leader for the Tigers’ boys track and field program, he has become a key piece in the 110- and 300-meter hurdles while also contributing on the 4×100 and 4×400 relays.

Jackson said much of his drive comes from home. “My dad inspires me because seeing the way he approaches challenges with such strength and grace has always inspired me,” Jackson said. “His work ethic, kindness and unwavering support have shaped me into the man I am today.”

On the track, Jackson leans on the lessons unique to hurdling, an event that demands both precision and resilience. “Being a hurdler, the best advice I have been given is that you can never give up, fight for what you want and if you fall over a hurdle get right back up and finish strong,” he said. Those words mirror the mentality he carries into every race and practice, whether he is attacking hurdles or anchoring a relay leg.

What Jackson values most, though, is the culture within Carthage’s program. “The part I enjoy most is the brotherhood we have,” Jackson said. “We grow as a team and get better; we always help each other on anything they need.” In his downtime between events, he focuses on stretching, staying energized and talking with his family about ways to improve.

Away from the track, Jackson enjoys spending time with friends and family and deepening his relationship with God. In the classroom, his favorite subject is ELA, and he points to Coach Broc Wolfe as his favorite teacher. After graduation, Jackson plans to attend Evangel University to study architecture engineering and soil engineering while continuing his track career at the next level.
