OUTLOOK

Coming off another competitive season, the Sarcoxie Lady Bears enter the year with the same high standards that have defined the program under longtime head coach April Ellis, now in her 17th season. With a strong senior class, depth across all positions, and a culture built on perseverance and work ethic, Sarcoxie is poised for another successful campaign. “The expectation is the same. We have a program that has a reputation for hard working kids that don’t give up. We continue to have a competitive team year in and year out,” Ellis said. “The focus is always on improving but also giving the players and our community the best experience that we can.”

Leading the Lady Bears is standout senior and four-year starter Remington Garrison (5-5, Sr., 13.8 ppg)— a proven All-Conference and All-District guard. Her ability to control the offense, create scoring opportunities, and consistently attack the rim makes her one of the most dependable players in the area. She’s joined in the senior class by Jordyn Misner (5-9, Sr., 8 ppg)—the team’s Character Counts nominee and a two-time All-Conference selection—along with Ariel Wilson (5-9, Sr., 9 ppg), Noemi Ramirez (5-6, Sr.), Breann Shumake (5-5, Sr.), and Laney Dorris (5-5, Sr.), giving Sarcoxie an experienced and steady core.

In the paint, junior Lilly Terry (6-0, Jr.), brings size, rebounding presence, and interior scoring ability. Her versatility will help the Lady Bears create mismatches and maintain balance on both ends of the floor.

Sarcoxie’s underclassmen add important depth and athleticism. Kylee Everts (5-5, So.), the team’s Underclassman to Watch, is a hard-nosed guard with grit and a relentless work ethic. She’s joined by Yeimi Lopez (5-5, So.), Alyssia Ramirez (5-5, So.), and Maddison Hollis (5-5, So.), all capable of contributing valuable minutes throughout the season.

Coach Ellis emphasizes how meaningful the journey is for her players. “We know that this game builds character and at the end of the season we want to be proud of how we persevered through the highs and lows of the season.”

With senior leadership, dynamic guard play, and growing young talent, the Lady Bears once again look ready to compete in the SWC and uphold the program’s long-standing standard of toughness and pride.
