Rich Hill High School senior Preston Turner has made a name for himself as a versatile athlete and a dedicated leader both on and off the field. Competing in football and track, Turner has displayed an impressive combination of talent, work ethic, and determination that has made him a cornerstone for the Tigers.
On the gridiron, Turner is a player who can do it all. He lines up at quarterback, running back, and linebacker, giving his team flexibility wherever he’s needed most. That willingness to step into multiple roles stems from his competitive drive. “What motivates me is trying to be the best I can be,” Turner said.
Turner has delivered some remarkable performances during his football career, but his junior season stands out as his highlight moment. In an unforgettable stretch, he scored five touchdowns in one game, followed by four in the next, and then three the week after. That scoring surge not only showcased his athleticism but also his ability to rise to the occasion when his team needed him most.
Like many athletes, Turner has role models who keep him grounded and focused. He points to his parents for their constant support and to Coach Green, his track coach, for instilling the values of dedication and perseverance. “It takes dedication and hard work for me to be successful at my sport,” Turner said. “There is something else that I would usually rather be doing, but I focused on my sport.”
Turner especially enjoys the competitive atmosphere at practice, where working with his brother pushes him to raise his game. When it comes to opponents, one matchup stands out. “An opponent that I always enjoy beating is Osceola,” he said. “I don’t know why, it just feels great when we do.”
Beyond athletics, Turner is active in Future Farmers of America, Future Business Leaders of America, and the National Honor Society, proving his commitment to leadership and growth extends beyond the playing field. Balancing schoolwork, activities, and sports hasn’t always been easy, but Turner says it comes down to staying focused and working hard.
For Turner, representing Rich Hill means everything. “It means a lot to me to represent my school,” he said. “I want to make the most of my time here and make everyone proud.”
