Adalyn Maxwell, a driven and passionate junior at Webb City High School, is a standout multi-sport athlete who continues to make her mark both on and off the court. A dedicated member of the volleyball, basketball, and track teams, Adalyn thrives in competition and values the lessons each sport brings. Whether she’s setting up at middle, swinging outside, or holding the line as an opposite hitter, her versatility and energy have become vital to her team’s success.
Inspired by elite athletes she watches on TV and social media, Maxwell uses their dedication as fuel for her own growth. “If I ever want to be as good as them, I have to work just as hard as they did,” she shared with Vype Magazine. That mindset has driven her to consistently push herself in practice and in games. But her true inspiration comes from someone closer to home. Maxwell’s grandfather, who once shoveled snow off the driveway just to shoot basketball in the winter, has been an inspiring role model for Maxwell. In addition to her grandpa, her club volleyball coach, who manages a full schedule yet never misses a chance to lead her team, has also been a driving force of Maxwell’s success.
Maxwell’s leadership also extends into the classroom and beyond. As a member of the school’s leadership club, she strives to be a positive example, a trait she credits to her Foods teacher, Mrs. Hunt. “She taught me a lot about being encouraging and positive, even if it’s not easy or you don’t agree with them, and I think that translates well into sports when things are getting tough and stressful and you have to try and encourage your teammates.”
Her proudest athletic moment so far? Winning the district championship. A triumph made sweeter by the collective effort it took. “Winning our district championship was a really great feeling, not just because we won and would get to keep playing, but because I was so proud of everyone that helped get us there, and seeing how happy everyone was, it was really amazing,” she recalls.
Looking ahead, Adalyn plans to attend college and hopes to continue playing volleyball while finding a career she loves. Until then, she remains proud to represent Webb City, a program that proves hard work and consistency really do pay off.
