Legacy isn’t just something Savannah Crane thinks about—it’s something she’s building every time she steps on the court. “I want to be someone that the younger players can look up to and show them that anything is possible when you put the work ethic in and believe in yourself and others around you!”
Coming into her senior season, the target is clear. “To obtain the school record of assists and to be a leader on the court,” Crane said when asked about her personal goals.
Offseason training has taken on a different tone this year after graduating key players. “We lost some key players from last season,” she said, “so right now we are really working to learn how to play together with some of the new faces on the floor in conjunction with our returners. So, we are focusing on communicating every play so that we get more comfortable playing with each other.”
The chemistry is already sparking. “How competitive and high the intensity already is in the gym because everyone is pushing each other to be better and we all have the same end goal—which is to make it back to state.”
Communication is key, and that’s something they’re focused on every day. “To make it back to state and to communicate better with each other every time we step on the court and just in practice. Every chance we get, we all work hard and push each other to be better athletes.”
Crane runs the floor from the setter position in a 5-1 rotation and does whatever the team needs. “I am a setter and we run a 5-1 so I also will block and hit as well.”
From scouting reports to game-day mindset, she stays locked in. “We always look at if their defense shifts—like if they run a modified defense or not—so we know where to place the ball when we play that team.”
Her favorite volleyball moment? “My sophomore year when I got to play with my older sister—that was like a dream come true.”
