Neosho Basketball  – Team Spotlight – Presented by UPLINK

The Wildcats are enjoying a very productive season under head coach Zane Culp. Coach Culp said the team continues to grow and improve.

“Our team is very young and have had a very productive year. We have gained a lot of experience and competed in almost every game. We are expecting big things out of our juniors and sophomores this next offseason,” said coach Culp.

In late December, the Wildcats made a big statement with their play at the Neosho Holiday Classic. Kaiden Asberry (Jr.) registered a 21-point game in the final round and was named to the All-Tournament team for his efforts.

Asberry is a talented point guard who sets the tone for the Wildcats. He is a leader in scoring and assists. While Asberry almost never leaves the court for coach Culp, but he’s not the only player the Wildcats depend on for plays.

Zach Forsythe (So.) has played big for the Wildcats this season. Forsythe is averaging 10.2 points a game with 5.0 rebounds. Coach Culp said Forsythe is a player he expects big things from now and in the future.

One player everyone loves to see on the floor is senior Kanten Smith. One of the leaders for coach Culp, Smith loves to guard the opponents best offensive player.

“He is our heartbeat on the floor. We owe a lot of our success to him,” said Culp.

With five games left on the schedule, the Wildcats will go on the road for three of those games after hosting Willard on Feb. 18th. The next three games include Parkview on the 21st, Webb City on the 24th, and Cassville on the 25th. The regular season will end at home against Nixa on Feb. 28th.

The state tournament is set for March 14th-20th.
