Webb City’s Trae Turner – Q & A – Presented by State Farm – Kyle Hickam

By Ken Hansard

Webb City High School junior basketball player and student / athleteTrae Turner spoke to VYPE SPORTS in a recent interview.

VYPE SPORTS: What are your personal goals for the year?

Turner: I would like to be somewhere around 500 total points by the end of the season.

VYPE SPORTS: What is your favorite athletic memory?

Turner: My dunk against Southside.

VYPE SPORTS: What teammate has left the biggest impression on you and why?

Turner: Holton Keith has left a big impression on me because I like his attitude towards basketball, and seeing his passion for the game lights a fire under me as well.

VYPE SPORTS: What is your favorite part of being on this team?

Turner: My favorite part of our team is how close we are with each other – both on and off the court.

VYPE SPORTS: What accolades (in any sport or activity) are you most proud of?

Turner: I was pretty proud of shooting the highest free throw percentage last season because it shows concentration and consistency.

VYPE SPORTS: What has your sport taught you that you use in your daily life?

Turner: Playing basketball has taught me the importance of being consistent.

VYPE SPORTS: What is the best advice that anyone has given you?

Turner: The best advice I have received is to play at my own pace.

VYPE SPORTS: Who inspires you and why?

Turner: De’Aaron Fox is my favorite player in the NBA.  We kind of have similar playing styles, so I’ve always looked up to him and modeled my game somewhat off him. I’ve also kind of modeled my game after Darius Garland.

VYPE SPORTS: Here is your chance to give a shout out or say thank you to anyone you wish.

Turner: I want to give a shout out to the entire town of Webb City and especially to my family!
