Olivia Haase, a defensive specialist for the Seneca High School Indians, is a junior who appears to have all her priorities in order. While even many seniors don’t yet know what their goals are, Olivia appears to already have a good roadmap for her future, starting with the upcoming volleyball season.
When asked what her goals are for this season, Olivia responded, “I see my role as someone who should strive to be a leader. One of the things I am looking forward to most this season is getting to play some varsity games and getting better as a team!”
To help make good on those goals, Haase put in a lot of extra time in the off-season trying to hone her skills, “I definitely want to get better at my passing and hitting. I saw my passing as a weakness, so I worked really hard on that. Coach Liz showed us a drill to pass the ball against the wall, and I have been working at that.”
When Haase spoke of leadership, she emphasized that she understands the importance of leading by example, “One of my challenges is working hard every single day to try and get that varsity spot. But I see this as a positive thing, because my teammates challenge me to bring out the most in my abilities – to be the best I can possibly be.”
Besides, playing volleyball, Haase also plays basketball for the Indians. A true student-athlete, Olivia is also strong academically. She is an honors student who currently boasts a 3.8 G.P.A.
Olivia already has a good idea of what she would like to do after she graduates. Her current plan is to get her associate’s degree from Crowder Community College. After that she would like to attend the University of Arkansas to earn some type of medical degree.
