One look at the goals of Neosho High School senior linebacker Trey Hardin is likely to make a person do a double take. One of Hardin’s goals is to record at least 140 tackles this season – an incredible number. However, when you look at Hardin’s numbers that he put up last season and the hours that he has put in during the off-season to improve himself, you start to think that this staggering number just might be attainable.
Hardin, an all-conference nominee as a sophomore in the always tough Central Ozark Conference, recorded 127 tackles and was named All-District as a junior, so when he says that his goal is to make All-Conference, All-District, and All-State, it’s not just wishful thinking.
Aside from the personal accolades, Hardin’s main focus is on the team and his expectations for his final year of high school football, “I’m looking forward to building a stronger bond with my teammates. I’m also excited to see all the hard work we’ve put in during the offseason and summer pay off and to prove all of the doubters in our conference wrong.”
Trey recognizes that, as a senior, he must be one of the players willing to step up and set the tone for the rest of the team, “I see myself in a very vocal role. I’m always trying to keep the energy and attitude up. My role is also always doing my job on the football field – even when nobody is watching. Our primary intent is to win playoff games.”
Besides playing football, Hardin also represents the Wildcats in powerlifting and in track and field. In the classroom, he sports an impressive 3.8 G.P.A.
Hardin’s current plan for after high school is to study sports medicine in college.
