
Joplin Football player Garren Berry recently gave an interview to Prep Sports.
PREP SPORTS: What are your personal goals for the year?
To graduate and finish this school year with a 4.0 GPA and to also be a great leader to my peers and teammates.
PREP SPORTS: What is your favorite athletic memory?
When my 8th football team went undefeated and played in our COC middle school championship and won in the freezing rain.
PREP SPORTS: What teammate has left the biggest impression on you and why?
Dontrell Holt has left the biggest impression on because he’s helped me become a better football player by pushing me hard everyday in practice and never taking reps off. And his all around leadership.
PREP SPORTS: What is your favorite part of being on this team?
My favorite part of being on this team was being able to connect and bond with my teammates and being able to build a brotherhood and just seeing our team grow throughout the season and getting better as team.
PREP SPORTS: Do you participate in any community service projects?
Miracle League baseball. Served lunch to the homeless at the salvation army.
PREP SPORTS: What Clubs or Campus groups are you involved with and why?
I am apart of Deca, Fusion, and Peer Buddies. I’m in Deca because it helps prepare for my future studies in business and marketing. Fusion and a group at my school that take the newcomers(freshman) under our wings and help guide them in the right direction so their 4 years at Joplin High School will an easy transition and fun experience. Peer buddies is a group that help out with special education students and also help guide them in the right path and always make them feel as normal as possible and give them a forever friend.
PREP SPORTS: What has your sport taught you that you use in your daily life?
Sport have really helped me when facing adversity and just when times get hard to not give up and work through everything no matter how long the process is.
PREP SPORTS: What is the best advice that anyone has given you?
When I was in 7th grade I met Travis Kelce at the Chief’s Training School and he told me “team work makes the dream work” and I’ve always used to be a better teammate.
PREP SPORTS: Who inspires you and why?
My parents inspire me the most in my life because they’ve shown me loyalty and also dedication to something and how to never give up.

I just want to thank my parents, family and my teammates and friends for always being there no matter the circumstances.
