VYPE caught up with Carthage Senior Kianna Yates to talk about her athletic career.

VYPE: What are your personal goals for the year?

My personal goal for this year is to try and become a better version of myself everyday. Since I am playing Basketball in college, my main goal this summer is to try and get better everyday.

VYPE: What is the most fun you have had in the last year?

The most fun I’ve had in the last year would be during my tennis season hanging out with my friends everyday and making memories at tournaments.

VYPE: Who is your favorite teacher from any grade, and why?

My favorite teacher would be my 6th grade teacher Mrs.Mills. She always let us have fun, and I created a ton of memories in her class.

VYPE: What is your favorite athletic memory?

My favorite athletic memory would be when I got the basketball scoring record at my school and my teammates were all celebrating with me. 

VYPE: What teammate has left the biggest impression on you and why?

A teammate that has left an impression on me was Karlee Kinder. When I was a freshman she was a senior and was always nice to me and helped me out. I’ve tried to implement that leadership style for myself, and help younger kids when they join our school program.

VYPE: What is your favorite part of being on this team?

My favorite part about being on this team is that everyone is fun to be around, and practices were always fun with them.

VYPE: You can pick any place for a summer vacation. Where do you go, and who do you take with you?

If I could go anywhere for a summer vacation I would probably go to Hawaii, or some place with a beach. I would take my friends Katie and Abi with me because we always have a good time together.

VYPE: If we gave you $500 and you had to spend it in the next 24 hours, what would you spend it on?

If I got $500 dollars I would probably buy some shoes, food, and a camera.

VYPE: What Clubs or Campus groups are you involved with and why?

I’m involved with Tennis, Basketball, and soccer. It’s fun to go into each sport and create bonds with different people.

VYPE: Are you involved in academic excellence activities such as the National Honor Society, Student Council, or other academic clubs?

I am involved in National Honor Society, FBLA, and I am a Carthage Technical Center Student Ambassador.
